BCNnetters
If/when you get involved in some municipality's desire to 'manage' gulls
along the lake, pasted below is a website containing resource material for your
use.
Our birding friends to the north are very much on top of this issue!

As a follow-up to the March 2004 gull management symposium hosted by the
Wisconsin Bird Conservation Initiative (WBCI) and the Wisconsin Society for
Ornithology (WSO), some resources are now available online that result from
that meeting. Andy Paulios, WBCI Coordinator, has added these links and
documents to the WBCI website, at
http://www.wisconsinbirds.org/Gullresources/gullresources.htm Included
among these items is a gull biology/phenology and management "calendar"
created by Wisconsin gull expert John Idzikowski. This document includes a
section entitled "Larid molt terminology and plumage of subadults"...this
will certainly be of interest to gull enthusiasts. Other resources include
information on gull management and the law, a list of contacts for "gull
biology, management, and urban wildlife", and other publications.
Additional information on gull management and conservation will continue to
be added to this webpage - please check back periodically if this is an
interest of yours. And, next time you see Andy or John, thank them for
their work on making this information available for all of us.
