Community meeting for shoreline project in Hyde Park
Wednesday, January 21

47th Street Coop grocery store
--2 blocks west of South Lake Shore Drive
Here is your chance to urge the City to build wetlands along Lake Shore Drive.
The City of Chicago and its many governmental partners are finalizing plans
for the restoration of the shoreline from 45th to 51st Street (AKA the Morgan
Shoals project).
This is one of the last community meetings that will influence how the
shoreline area will be used. The City's designers have presented many options
ranging from a recreation focus to plans with wetlands and nature areas. You can
see the current choices at http://www.hydepark.org . (The link is in the
orange box on the right side.)
The governmental officials have expressed a desire to have a wetlands focus
---the DOE Commissioner said she would like to recreate IL Beach State Park---
but they need citizens to support their efforts. It is likely that there
will be community participants who attend this meeting to express their strong
support for a large, heavy recreational beaches. (They have attend the previous
community meeting.)
You do not have live in the neighborhood to attend the meeting -- all
Chicagoans are welcomed.
