[BCNnet] HB 840 legalizing managed cat colonies - good news

BCNnet  friends,

I’m writing to thank everyone for your letters and calls to legislators that resulted in this bill’s likely demise in this session of the state legislature.

Bob Fisher and I were in Springfield yesterday, saw House Majority Leader Currie and several other legislators on the Agriculture and Conservation Committee and elsewhere, most of whom were supportive of our efforts.  We also saw the sponsor, Representative Holbrook, who ended up pulling the bill and it was never  called.  I must add this was done with a lot of help from our friends.    The state departments of Natural Resources and Agriculture were especially supportive of our efforts and helpful in explaining that this bill was bad for the cats as well as birds and other wildlife.
