Contacting your State Rep and State Senator can make a big difference. (It
did with threatened funding cuts earlier.)

Subject: [openspace] PPW FLASH ACTION ALERT!!

TAKE ACTION TODAY!

The Partners for Parks and Wildlife Coalition is calling on the Illinois
General Assembly and Governor Blagojevich to stop the layoffs of 89 Illinois
Department of Natural Resources front-line employees. These are long-time
employees who serve the public at state parks and natural areas. Without
these employees, park services will have to be drastically cut.

The General Assembly can prevent these layoffs and cuts next Monday and
Tuesday (January 10-11) by providing IDNR with the needed money.

PPW urges the members of your organization to IMMEDIATELY contact your state
legislators and ask them to call for additional funding to halt the layoffs.

Please forward this FLASH ALERT to all of your members as well as friends
and family so that we can generate thousands of phone calls today, Monday &
Tuesday.

To find your State Senator and State Representative and their DISTRICT PHONE
NUMBERS, follow this link:

Below are some points that you may want to touch on when you are speaking
with your legislators or their staffs:

1. I live in your district and I am calling on behalf of "organization". I
am also a member of Partners for Parks and Wildlife.

2. I'm calling to ask for your help in stopping the layoffs of 89 IDNR
employees;

3. These layoffs will result in service cuts and closures of IDNR
facilities;

4. During the session next week, please push for the needed money to save
these positions and services. WE ARE ASKING FOR A SUPPLEMENTAL APPROPRIATION
BILL THAT WILL INCLUDE THE $2 MILLION NEEDED TO MAINTAIN THESE JOBS;

5. Finally, I'd like to ask you to convey your support of these positions to
your caucus leadership and ask them to fully support the needed funding.

Thank you for your time and support of this important issue.

Thank you for taking ACTION today. Please check the PPW website for further
updates during the course of the next few days:

Thank you,

Jonathan
