The day after tomorrow, September 18th is the scheduled workday at the =
Great
Lakes Naval Training Center from 9 AM until noon. The area of the =
marina
where we have worked for the past several years continues to be the only
site in Illinois where the state endangered COMMON TERNS successfully =
nest.

We will meet at 8:45 at the southeast corner of the parking lot of the =
Navy
Commissary shopping Center for shuttling the short distance to the base.
The shopping center is located on Green Bay Road, about =BC mile north =
of Rte
137 (Buckley Rd). We will leave Great Lakes no later than 11:45 AM to =
get
everyone back to their cars before noon. If any of you has a pass to =
the
base and are willing to take a few passengers, please let me know. Your
help would be greatly appreciated. If you have not already responded,
please let me know if you can give us a hand that morning.=20

Binoculars are recommended as we could be seeing shorebirds and possibly
some rarities. If it=92s a cool day a light jacket might be helpful =
and
don=92t forget a hat, sunscreen and sunglasses. Part of our effort is
participation in Lake Michigan Coastal Cleanup day so if you have it =
bring
one of those large plastic garbage bags. Water and snacks will be =
provided.
