Note from Marianne Hahn

We have an opportunity to speak with Representative George Scully, who
is holding an open house to hear all sides of
the issues in the Governor's proposed budget cuts.
Governor Blagojevich proposed the change in the Real
Estate Tranfer Tax, which will stop funding for the Illinois Nature
Preserves Commission, OSLAD, and several related conservation programs in
which Illinois has been a leader for the past 40 years.

There will be an Open House, Saturday, May 1st, at the office of the
South Suburban Mayors & Managers Association.
Time: 8:00am
Address: 1904 W. 174th St.
East Hazel Crest, IL
(North of Bolzano's Restaurant at 175th, east off of Dixie Hwy. in the
office complex)

Anyone who is interested in speaking with Rep. Scully about these
changes, please attend this Open House. He needs to
understand the importance of maintaining the Real Estate Transfer Tax for
financial support of Illinois' natural resources and open lands.

Hope several of you can make it!
