You've probably heard about the legislative budget debates in Springfield
continuing over the weekend. The experts that the conservation community is
using tell us that the budget negotiators are starting over with a blank slate.
Thus, we need to re-confirm to every House and Senate member that funding for
open space and natural areas must be in the final budget, and at 100%.

This issue is not on the short list of hot topics for many legislators. That
makes your calls very important.

Please contact your State Rep and State Senator at their Springfield office.

Tell them that you want OSLAD/NAAF fully funded in the final budget and the
dedicated funding stream protected.

And give them something to do, by asking them to go to their leadership and
ask again that OSLAD and NAAF be included in the budget, and to speak out in
caucus meetings.

For a short tutorial on OSLAD and NAAP, check out the details on the
Openlands Project website - http://www.openlands.org/policy.asp?pgid=301

These actions do make a difference. Legislators have told us they do. So
please make these calls.
