I attended the Board meeting where the Beck Lake DFA was approved, and =
the group had raised the money themselves for the fence (my recollection =
is $5,000 but it was a while ago). I remember that was one of the things =
that impressed Commissioner Quigley, i.e. that this private group of =
citizens would take the initiative to raise the money for a project they =
wanted. I don't remember any discussion about ongoing maintenance, =
though, and in reading the articles about DFAs in DuPage County, that =
definitely sounds like a problem that has to be considered.

A) The Beck Lake Dog group is not the Forest Preserve staff.
B) I'm just the reporter. Bylina said it didn't cost the FP any =
money. Maybe the dog group had to pay for the startup costs too. (The =
Chicago dog parks require dog group $s to start.)
