[BCNnet] turkey introdution?

Two points to ponder-
1. Someone, I'm sorry that I do not remember who, said
that turkeys are are not native to our part of IL.
Bohlen in his The Birds of Illinois , if I understand
him correctly, lists them as introduced in our area.
2. Someone noted that they are voracious consumers.
If they were native, # 2 wouldn't matter so much.
Taken together, I submit that they should not be
introduced.
My decision is based on my experience as a retired
high school biology/ecology teacher.
