I was under the opinion that this discussion was raised on the listserv for=20=
public discussion so maybe you should post your reply there.

Judy:
Each of the wild turkey sightings in the South suburban Forest Pres=
erves were single sightings of a single bird. If the bird had remained at B=
artel, Wanetta would have been the most likely one to see it, because she sp=
ends a lot of time in the preserves on a regular, almost daily, basis. Furt=
hermore, Bartel is monitored for breeding birds by several individuals, one=20=
of whom is Jim Herkert.=20
I did do some follow-up on the bird that was spotted by Mary Ann Mc=
Lean. I was concerned that it might have been an escape from someone that r=
aises exotic birds in Lansing, IL, suburb adjacent to the Preserve where the=
turkey was seen. My questioning led me to the Animal Control Officer for L=
ansing. He was a very well-informed gentleman who really loved wildlife and=
knew a lot about the behavior of various species. He was of the opinion th=
at what was seen was a wild bird, mostly because they are quite common in ne=
arby Indiana, and there is a rural corridor that the bird could have followe=
d. (A lot of that corridor was in the FPD 1994 Plan for acquisition, which,=20=
unfortunately, never occurred.)=20
Hope that answers your questions. If not, please let me know.
