I'm passing along this request for Chicago area birders to fill out an on-line
survey for a research effort..

My name is David Klenosky. I'm a Professor of Recreation Management at Purdue
University and have been working on a research project examining the impact of
factories/industrial structures, odor, noise, and the like on people's outdoor
activities. As part of that project, I've developed a web-based survey
focusing
on how these environmental conditions affect bird watching. I am writing to
ask
you to participate in this survey, which can be found at the following website
(click on the link below or cut and paste the entire URL into your browser):

It is important to get input from a variety of people with a wide range of
birding interests. So even if you rarely bird or have not gone birding
recently, please take a few minutes to complete and submit a survey. It would
help me considerably if you could if you complete the survey as soon as
possible, but by November 17, 2003 at the latest.

Results from the survey will help resource agencies in their efforts to
develop, preserve, and restore birding areas and other outdoor resources. By
sharing your experiences and opinions you can help improve the quality of life
in our community.

If you have any questions about this study, or would prefer to complete a
paper
survey instead, please feel free to contact me.

Sincerely,
Dave Klenosky
