FIRST WHOOPERS REACH FLORIDA: Three reintroduced eastern whooping=20
cranes are the first to reach Florida in an unassisted fall migration=20
from Wisconsin says the USFWS 11/17. The whoopers are part of efforts=20
to establish a wild migrating flock in eastern North America and for=20
two of the birds this is their first unassisted migration after being=20
guided last year by an ultralight aircraft. "Sixteen of the other=20
seventeen cranes from the classes of 2001 and 2002 are enroute to=20
Florida too" while a third generation of migrating cranes guided by an=20
ultralight have reached Kentucky (USFWS 11/10).
