The current issue of CW magazine has a good article about the damage that deer do (with some great pictures that really illustrate the problem), but nothing about contraceptives.  However, if you go back a few years, there'a a very interesting interview with a group of land managers about their experiences with deer.  They claim, among other things, that the contraceptive programs don't work - the deer still give birth.  Here's the link:
