The Chicago Ornithological Society will meet at 7 p.m. on Monday April
22 at the Field Museum. NOTE ONE TIME CHANGE of meeting night (we usually
meet the third Monday, but we're NOT meeting April 15th.)

Tim Brush will present on 'The Lower Rio Grande Valley of Texas: Where
America Touches the Tropics'.

At only 26 degrees N latitude, the southernmost tip of Texas contains
a fascinating mixture of birds whose ranges are primarily tropical, desert,
grassland and deciduous forest. The Lower Rio Grande Valley is a magnet
for local specialties and rare Central American species. Dr. Tim Brush
of the University of Texas - Pan American has lived in "the Valley" for
over 10 years and will share his knowledge of what makes this area unique.
Focusing on tropical species such as Great Kiskadee, Altamira Oriole,
Least Grebe, Plain Chachalaca and Red-billed Pigeon, Tim will show slides
introducing the variety of habitats and birds that make the Valley one
of the 10 premier bird-watching locations in the United States. As time
allows, he'll make suggestions for finding particularly difficult species
and will give general information about birding in the Valley.

Please join us! Enter through the west door of museum and the security
guard will direct you to the room. Parking should be available in the
west lot. If you are taking public transporation, this link to the Regional
Transporation Authority Trip Planner should be helpful.
