IBET & BCNnet friends-

Forgive my inadvertent hitting of the send key (twice!).

I intended to include the best example of all of the value of birding
clubs to birds right here in our area.

Consider the successes of our Bird Conservation Network, the coalition
of 17 bird clubs, Audubon societies, ornithological goups, and other
conservation organizations. One great example has been BCN's
pulication of the Bird Habitat Guidelines and its unanimous adoption by
the Chicago Park District Board of Commissioners. This mandates CPD
staff, whereever possible, to install and maintain bird friendly
plantings thoughout the Park system. Just think of the Park District's
major presence along the lakefront flyway, let alone parks all over the
city and how birds will be helped by this improved landscaping.

How about the Chicago clubs, COS, Ft. Dearborn Audubon, and CAS, and
their role in assisting the CPD in habitat improvement at Montrose,
Lincoln Park Bird Sanctuary, Wooded Isle, etc?

I think our bird clubs can be proud of these accomplishments.
