About the Topic

Stephen Oaks will cover the copper theft problem and Matt Bedinghaus will discuss the design and use of copper-alternative materials for grounding. Matt is experienced with current substation design software and will demonstrate models for this and other grounding purposes.

About the Speakers

Mr. Bedinghaus is the founder, CEO, and Chief Engineer of Springfield, MO-based A2V Partners LLC, an electrical engineering consulting firm that provides a range of services to utilities and industrial clients throughout the midwestern United States. One of his current clients is CommScope Bi-Metals Division in Hickory, NC. Matt is developing utility grounding applications for Copper Clad Steel (CCS) for CommScope. He is a professional engineer (PE) with more than 26 years of experience in the electric utility industry and is a registered PE in 16 states. See the A2V Partners LLC website at www.a2vpe.com .

Stephen Oaks is a technical marketing consultant with over 25 years in global technical product marketing. He has introduced industry changing products to the portable electronics, software and electrical utility markets. Most recently, Stephen has been researching electrical grounding and the copper theft problem/solutions in North America. He is also a faculty member at the University of Phoenix where he teaches bachelor and masters degree programs in business.

The cost of the optional family style dinner is $15 for IEEE members, $20 for non-members, payable at the event. Sorry, we are unable to process credit cards. Checks payable to "IEEE-PES Chicago Chapter" and cash are accepted, and receipts will be provided.

Continuing Education

IEEE technical meetings may be acceptable as continuing education where required for maintenance of professional engineering licensure. Refer to the individual state's requirements for details. A receipt for one Professional Development Hour (PDH) will be provided.
