In the area of energy storage, energy storage systems such as Lithium-ion batteries require thermal management to ensure safe and efficient operation This is because higher temperatures increases the cell performance by promoting the electro-chemical activity and reducing the cell over-potentials, at the same time, higher temperatures can reduce the cell life by promoting side reactions. Our team has been researching advanced modeling techniques and thermal management systems using active, passive and hybrid cooling approaches.
