Dear ECE Undergraduate Student, It is time for the ECE Department's faculty-led advising process to help you get ready for the upcoming Spring/Summer course registration. These processes were developed based in part on feedback from student surveys, and the ECE faculty will continue to adjust them to serve you better. Please read the following information carefully and let me know if you have any questions. My e-mail address is oruklu@iit.edu. The pre-registration advising period begins Monday, October 24th and ends November 4th. Tiered registration begins Monday, November 7th. During the two-week advising period, each ECE undergraduate student must meet with their advisor in the method they communicate to you, either in-person, Zoom, Blackboard Collaborate, Google Meet, etc. You can find your advisor's name on my.iit.edu on your Undergraduate Academic Affairs page in your portal. Your Advisor has set aside special appointment slots for advising, but likely will not be available or as available after the two-week period. If you fail to meet with your Advisor during the advising period, then your course registration will be delayed and courses may close before you can register. Assuming that you are in good academic standing, your advisor will provide your Alternate PIN following your advising session. Alternate PINs will be provided only following advising with your advisor or the ECE Chair's office. Note that some advisors are available only in the first week of the advising period due to travel. Others may be available only for a single day during the advising period. Check your advisor's availability on Google Calendar (see the ECE Advising web site below) before Monday, October 24th. You must sign up for an advising appointment at least 24 hours in advance of the appointment time. The ECE Undergraduate Advising web site is the place to start. Check it out! http://www.ece.iit.edu/~advising On behalf of the ECE faculty and staff, we hope that you like the ECE advising web site and the ECE advising process. If you have any questions or suggestions for improvement, then please let me know. Dr. Oruklu ECE Undergraduate Program Committee, Chair
