The Chicago region is an outstanding laboratory for studying human-dominated
landscapes that make up most of the world. Mushrooms and other fungi play
vital roles in forests, grasslands and parks in addition to being culinary
delights.  They also can help assess the health of these systems and
management practices being employed to maintain them.
