Dear PPW Member:

 

As you know, it has been a long struggle in Illinois to find the resources
to preserve our open spaces and natural areas. To provide support for our
advocacy efforts, Partners for Parks and Wildlife is developing a report
that will document the current state of conservation efforts in Illinois. We
need your help as we put the report together.

 

Please let us know if you are aware of research and reports that will help
us document the current situation (as well as historical) for conservation
efforts and the funding for those efforts. 

 

In particular, we need to better understand what open space opportunities
have been lost to development. Please tell us some stories that we can use
to illustrate the importance of this issue:

 

*	Do you know of an open space that was developed because no money was
available to stop the development?
*	Do you know of a governmental unit that could not compete with a
private developer for existing open space?
*	Do you know of a property that should be protected but no money has
been available to complete the project?

of weeks, so please get us those stories quickly.
