BCN friends,
It is crucial to get this bill passed in Springfield so that we will
continue to have access to privately owned land without the owner having
fear of being sued, which effectively would cause denial of our entry.
Please respond directly as outlined in this email.
Thanks

Subject: Recreational Liability Legislation Update
I have good news to report regarding our effort to restore liability
protection for outdoor recreation in Illinois. As stated in our last email
update, we have been working with Senator John Cullerton (D-Chicago) on this
issue. Although it is approaching the end of the legislative session,
Senator Cullerton indicated that he still wants to move his bill (SB 2886)
on recreational liability.
In order to persuade his colleagues in the General Assembly on the
importance of this issue, Senator Cullerton asked that we provide him with
specific examples of private land that is open to the public in Illinois.
If you know of any examples, please reply to this email and list (1) the
location of the private land that is open to the public; (2) the approximate
number of acres; (3) the owner of the land; and (4) the types of
recreational activities that are allowed on the land.
The deadline to get bills passed out of the Senate is fast approaching so
your prompt attention to this matter is greatly appreciated.
Thank you,
Jeremy
