(For ILbird readers: This is a meeting announcement only. All further discussions on the topic
should be on BCNnet - easily joined at www.bcnbirds.org <http://www.bcnbirds.org/> - or the FOTFP
listserv. )
Save the date: Saturday afternoon, October 29th. (probably 1-3pm)
Subject: WIND TURBINES in the City of Chicago and/or on Northerly Island and/or in the Forest
Preserves.
Location: a Chicago Park District facility (with easy parking) - to be announced
There are at least two independent efforts underway to put wind turbines in Chicago. Mayor Daley's
staff quotes him as saying "we can't be green without a turbine." (AKA - Toronto has one; I want
one.)
Separately, local "sustainable" experts are working on plans to sell/install turbines locally. I
have seen one (by IIT) and heard of other plans to put wind turbines on Northerly Island. At some
point someone suggested some for the Lake Cal area "because there is nothing down there."
These two types of turbines will be presented at the meeting - Google them for more details.

I am organizing this meeting on behalf of COS and CAS; the Chicago Park District is hosting it
because they want the turbine promoters to talk directly to the bird conservation community.
REMINDER to ILbird readers: Please make any comments on BCNnet - www.bcnbirds.org
