Isn't Clear Channel the company doing the upcoming concerts at Northerly Island? (According to today's Chicago Tribune article in the "At Play" section, the concerts begin Friday.)
Maybe a few Chi-birder letters are in order.

Regarding my post about the radio show in Little Rock, you might want to
write
Mark Mays, President of Clear Channel Communications Inc., who owns the
Little Rock station 100.3 The Edge. I am sorry I don't have an email
address.
As soon as I get a list of the show sponsors, I will post.

Mr. Mark Mays
Clear Channel Communications, Inc.
200 East Basse Road
San Antonio, Tx 78209

Phone: 210-822-2828

Mark at TPWD says you can complete a "feedback form" at
_www.clearchannel.com_ (http://www.clearchannel.com) , but I would still
send a hard copy to Mark
Mays, the president.

I took it upon myself to do an internet search and
quickly found, on the USFWS website, the text of the
Endangered Species Act (ESA). The language that
prohibits the type of activity being undertaken by
these two rocket scientist DJs in Arkansas (sorry to
insult any true rocket scientists out there) is in
Section 9(g). "It is Unlawful for any person subject
to the jurisdiction of the United States to attempt to
commit, solicit another to commit, or cause to be
committed, any offense defined in this section." This
statement comes after a very long list of things
considered 'violations' of the ESA, and as you would
imagine, killing any protected species(referred to as
'taking.' "The term "take" means to harass, harm,
pursue, hunt, shoot, wound, kill, trap, capture, or
collect, or to attempt to engage in any such
conduct.") is at the top. See for yourself at
http://www.fws.gov/endangered/esa.html.

I have long been a subscriber to the AZ/NM listserve and just signed up for
the Texas listserve today and see just how active it is=-especially as
regards the Ivory-billed Woodpecker.
While I think the two morons who are promoting the material are doing it
just for shock value there is no doubt it is in poor taste and might just
give someone an idea. I called the station HQ in San Antonio and politely
expressed my concern. They were very thankful to hear of my concerns and
the person I talked to said she thought the djs were out of line. I
encourage everyone to make the phone call, get it out of your system, watch
to make sure that they quit selling the stuff and then make a contribution
to the Nature Conservancy or some other organization there in Arkansas doing
what they can to save this magnificent bird.
You can also email them at the following emails:

    philhunt at clearchannel.com
    omarthompson at clearchannel.com

I was given those addresses by someone at the HQ.
Do it all and please make a contribution in any way you can to help protect
this species.
