Below is a blurp from today's Sun Times. It is not news that the southern
suburbs were seeking the casino license but this is the first time I've noticed
the target location: near the intersection of I-80 and I-57. Per my map, the
western side of that area is mostly FP.
If anyone has more specific details, please advise. This may be something we
need to put on our watchlist.

South suburbs may get casino
A New York City-based developer is interested in buying the gaming license
for Jumer's Casino Rock Island and relocating the underperforming operation to
the south suburbs. The developer has scouted potential south suburban casino
sites, including in Country Club Hills near the intersection of Interstates 57
and 80, where the Southland Development Group wants to dock a riverboat,
sources said. Top executives from Rock Island Boatworks Inc. -- the family-owned
company that operates Jumer's Casino -- have confirmed discussions about selling
the license. State Sen. Denny Jacobs (D-Moline) said people from Florida and
New York are among those who made inquiries. "Could it be done? Yes, it could,"
Jacobs said, adding that the move is a long shot.
