Please join Chicago Ornithological Society members for our Sept. 16 meeting,
at 7 p.m. at the Field Museum.

Come hear "Teaching Cranes to Fly: The Work of the International Crane
Foundation" by Dr. George Archibald, Cofounder of the ICF

The International Crane Foundation is dedicated to the preservation of
cranes and their habitats in the USA and around the world. Dr. George
Archibald, cofounder of ICF and Chairman of the Board, will talk about
the group's work to reintroduce Whooping Cranes to the eastern United
States. He also will talk about the foundation's efforts to engage China
and Bhutan in the conservation of the endangered Black-necked Cranes.

Pilots dressed in Whooping Crane costumes, leading captive-reared Whooping
Cranes south behind their ultra-light aircraft… Bhutanese people performing
a crane dance as the migrant Black-necked Cranes arrive from Tibet…these
are just a few of the images and stories about cranes that Dr. Archibald
will share.

We look forward to seeing you there!

Enter through the west doors of the museum. Parking is sometimes available
in the west lot, depending on ongoing museum construction work. Parking
is also available east of the museum on the street that leads to the
Planetarium. You can explore your public transportation options at this
