The Chicago Ornithological Society invites you to attend its next meeting,
Monday, March 18, at 7 p.m. at the Field Museum. Our speaker will be
Ron Larkin, speaking on 'Bird Migration in the Chicago Area: Clues from
Radar Images'.

>From a bird's perspective, greater Chicago lies between one of the largest
lakes and one of the most intensively-farmed areas in the U.S. Its natural
areas, wetlands and even parks and back yards are especially important
for migrants in passage. New radar technology provides scientists with
remarkable large-scale images to assess how migrant birds use natural
features such as the Great Lakes as well as man-made landscape changes,
such as row crops and urban centers. Ron Larkin is a Wildlife Ecologist
at the Illinois Natural History Survey in Champaign and has been involved
in radar ornithology for 30 years. He will present radar images of birds
as they migrate through the Chicago area and discuss radar's role in
studying birds and in bird conservation.
All are welcome, please join us for this timely program!

Enter at the west doors of the Museum. Parking should be available in
the west lot. If that is full, the east lot is sometimes available and
there is also parking on the drive to the Shedd Aquarium. Public transportation
is also available; you can consult the RTA's trip planner at the link
below:
