I believe I reviewed the science on this issue on this list once before:

* Big windmills that rotate slower (as proposed for Bureau County) are less
hazardous to birds than smaller ones.

* Windmills are less hazardous to birds when they are not concealed by
ridges or other features.

* Windmills are less hazardous to birds when located outside of avian
flyways.

* When these considerations are observed, the hazard of windmills to birds
is hard to distinguish from natural avian mortality rates.

Hi Birders,

Check out this online poll re: the Bureau County windfarm. The three
editorial comments are worth a read, too. There are only 100 votes so we
can definitely impact this poll.

My question to birders downstate: Are there any negative impacts to birds
from this wind farm?

The poll is at http://www.bcrnews.com/opinion/
